Meet Cristina

Growing up in Moldova, a small country in Eastern Europe, I learned the art of viniculture. I never thought I would find myself in the industry decades later, across the ocean nonetheless. Moldova borders Romania and Ukraine. One of Moldova’s most notable features is its fertile land, making it ideal for growing grapes. For about five thousand years, the residents of this region have been producing wine. Not many industries can boast continued success for 50 centuries, and counting. Interestingly, Moldova is home to the “Queen of England’s wine.” Yes, the Queen of England was known to be an avid fan of Purcari’s Negru de Purcari. Growing-up in Moldova, I took for granted this abundance of culture and geographic perfection. It was my husband and “partner in wine” who initially planted the idea in my mind to bring the richness of Eastern Europe wines to our nation’s capital. Although wines from Moldova is our specialty, and passion here at Harbor Wines, we also work with several wineries throughout the US, Europe, Africa, and New Zealand as well. I look forward to showing you the wonders of my unique wine selection.
